Founded in 2013, Fiber Core Group is a leading communication, construction, consulting and engineering company. Our team has a comprehensive understanding of our clients’ needs within the highly competitive communications industry. Our success and growth are a result of our focus on quality and safety, while never forgetting the customers’ goals & expectations. As a result, we have gained the confidence of our customers to meet their changing needs and to provide the highest quality professional turnkey construction, consulting and engineering services.

Fiber Core Group originated with the expectations to meet the stringent demands of the telecommunications-construction industry. As an independent company, we have a management team of highly experienced professionals with more than 120 years of combined cable and telecom experience.

Fiber Core Group staff hold several professional standard certifications. Included in our portfolio are Professional Engineer, Advanced Fiber Optic certifications; RF Engineering, Line Sweep, PIM certifications; along with multiple hardware, firmware & software certifications to support our survey design, installation and maintenance departments.

David McElroy

David McElroy’s career in the broadband industry started 25 years ago when he was gainfully employed into his Uncle’s family business as a coaxial splicer and sweep technician. At the age of 20, David took the knowledge and skills he had gained and started his very first business. David combines his energy and vigor to succeed, with his knowledge of the telecommunications industry and has successfully created a work environment of like-minded individuals who believe in his passion and love what they do. David’s ability to lead so successfully stems from a deep-rooted loyalty to both his customers and his employees. David is certified as a Fiber Optic Installer, Advanced Fiber Optic Technician, Fiber Master Journeyman with FNT; this also includes PIM and SWEEP certifications for Anritsu.

Jim Smith
Executive Vice President

As Vice President of Operations, Jim has a unique ability to share our Vision with our customers and employee partners. Jim oversees all current projects and facilitates future business development. Jim spent most of his professional life as an entrepreneur owning and operating more than a dozen companies. Jim calls Fiber Core home for almost eight years now and starts each day with positive attitude and excitement for the future. Jim resides in Jacksonville Fl, is married, and has two young men in college. Jim has a Bachelor of Business from New Mexico State, and is certified through the U.S. Army corps of Engineers; Naval facility Engineering Command training.

Misty McElroy
Director of Operations

As Director of Operations at Fiber Core Group Misty McElroy is responsible for new project development; identifying and targeting areas in which business can improve, researching and executing new directives for business growth and prosperity. Misty spends her day developing and implementing guidelines for new and existing projects. She oversees employee productivity, managing employee evaluations, recruitment and promotions. Leveraging more than 10 years of industry experience, and a never-ending positive attitude, Misty has been deemed our team Rockstar. Misty enjoys volunteering for a variety of organizations in her community, especially as a family with her husband and two step-sons.

Serena James
Director of Accounting

Originally from California, Serena recently relocated to Jacksonville, joining the Fiber Core team to develop and manage the Financial Department. As Director of Accounting, Serena oversees Fiber Core Group’s critical accounting functions including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, as well as project reconciliations and closeouts.

Sheila Dukes
Director of Human Resources

Originally from Georgia, Sheila spent thirty-five years in Connecticut relocating back to Georgia in 2010 but finally settling in Jacksonville, Florida in 2014. She is a mother of two young men and a grandmother of three. She is an innovative and polished Human Resources and Office Administration professional, with her Human Resources career spanning twenty-eight years. She has extensive experience in Recruiting, Employee Relations, Policy development, Benefits development, Employee Onboarding, and Performance management. She is proficient in multiple HRIS, systems, Payroll, Accounting and office administration.
